Marriage at the courthouse...?

How is it done, I know it depends on the state but I just want the basics. Will we be the only couple in the room or will there be others? Can we take witnesses and if so how many? Please tell me what u know about marrying at the courthouse. I live in Kansas so anything u know about that please tell me. I know we have to pay $50 for our license and wait three days and blood test, but what else can u tell me?
