If you get pregnant while on birth control?

By missing a couple of pills, is there a chance you could get the "withdrawal bleeding" that you would normally get during the placebo pills but a bit lighter? If I mistook this for a regular breakthrough bleeding but was actually pregnant, would it happen again the next month on the pill and so on..?
