How do you help infants get up their mucus when having drainage?

My son is 11 mos old, he's got his first ear infection....over the last two days he seems to have gotten worse. I can't help him hawk up his mucus, any suggestions? I've bought a humidifier and am giving him 4 prescriptions from the doctor, Mucinex, Clarinex, Cefdinir, and Ibuprofen.
